East coast awaken in turmoil
Walk around inside my feet
Somewhere that I’ve never seen
And this is all the same to me

Casting stones into the windows
Somewhere three thousand miles away
Shipping through the air on Saturday
While I watch the signal from the air

Take a breath and then another
Teach me what it’s like to be clear
Teach me what it’s like to exist
Beyond the trees and in the sky

This won’t be deleted or resigned
The fiery sternum and in my mind
What will it matter anyway?
If the birds don’t come out today

House full of birds in their game
In the morning help wake the sun
Ready to fly away for the summer
Come and go: I can chase forever

And let me sleep eternal if
The birds don’t come out again
